Rome Wasn't Built in Two Weeks...

Parenthood ain't easy.  We probably knew that before, but now, after experiencing it firsthand for just two weeks, can say it's so.  And for all of the constant cries, messy diapers, late night feeds, and lack of sleep, we wouldn't have it any other way.   Look at these photos to see why (click here).  We've uploaded more photos to Picassa.

P.S. Thanks to our parents for their endless patience and love.  We must have been a handful.

By the way, we also learned that Jayen has a healthy sense of humor (see video below).

Happy 1 Week Birthday, Jayen

Jayen turned 1 week old today.  It's not a monumental birthday, but it's a start.  Here is a video recap of Jayen's life to date.  Enjoy!

Baby Showers

Last weekend we had our LA baby shower and this past weekend I had my all girls SF baby shower. Both were a blast! It was so nice to see so many friends and family. We feel very loved!

The Baby in my Belly

I can't believe our little boy will be here within the next two months. I am now 33 weeks pregnant. We are so excited and can't wait to finally meet the little one. Will he have my eyes? Tej's devilish dimple? A full head of hair? He's already bringing us such joy. Every time I feel him kicking, nudging, elbowing or just twisting and turning inside my belly, a big smile comes to my face. I look at Tej and tell him what's going on and often he comes over and starts talking to the baby, to make sure he will recognize his daddy's voice once he enters this world. Sometimes, our baby takes me by surprise, and kicks me relentlessly in the ribs or, during a meeting at work, he'll do somersaults (so it feels like) and I can't really focus on anything else. This pregnancy is definitely preparing me for the wonders, unpredictability and sometimes challenges of motherhood.

I feel grateful that my pregnancy has been so far very easy. I never had morning sickness or back aches, etc. I am getting pretty big now, so sleeping at night is starting to be a luxury.

I do miss a few things -- I miss sushi! I miss going running. I also miss having enough energy to stay up past midnight! However, I know in due time I'll be able to do these things again. Right now I am enjoying this very special time in life. I actually would say I have enjoyed being pregnant. But I realize this is only the beginning. We have a long journey ahead. We will be parents now and that is a grand responsibility. We will take it one month at a time and enjoy every minute of it.
