Surfs Up!

We visited San Diego this past weekend for a wedding for one of Sahana's family friends. While in San Diego, we took advantage of the location and warm weather to try surfing for the first time. After mastering snowboarding (okay not really) we thought surfing couldn't be that tough. Although we managed to rise to our feet while surfing a few times, I'd be hard-pressed to label our first surfing experience as "successful." We hit the sand and swallowed the ocean quite a few times. But overall, had a ton of fun trying. And we look forward to our second surfing attempt, hopefully someday soon.

After a morning of surfing, we spent our remaining free time in San Diego, aside from the wedding, with Sahana's college friend Shabana (yes, the names are similar and they both have the same middle initial and last names). Here we are enjoying a beautiful day in La Jolla, arguably one of the best spots in the country.

Jersey Visits San Fran

We have never met someone so proud of the magnificent state of New Jersey as Mansi, my cousin. Equally, we've never met someone so excited to visit her cousins, even if it entails trekking across the country to San Francisco.

Mansi visited Sahana and me the weekend of March 1st. After a short happy hour, she, Sahana and Rajeev (Sahana's brother) packed into a car and headest west to Lake Tahoe for snowboarding. Vegas had the odds of Sahana's car making it successfully to the snow covered hills of Lake Tahoe at 15%. Sahana and crew beat the odds. After spending Friday night in Sacremento at Sahana's aunt's house to rest their weary souls and eat (what I've been told is) the best chicken curry outside of India, they spent all Saturday at Lake Tahoe.

Sahana, Mansi and Rajeev arrived back to San Francisco Saturday evening. After a long-awaited dinner at home from of our favorite Thai delivery joint, Mansi and I headed out to enjoy the San Francisco night life and meet up with friends. Sahana, however, too beaten and bruised from our friend Lake Tahoe, waived the white flag and retreated to bed for the evening.

On Sunday, the three amigos took advantage of sunny blue skies and 65 degree temp by heading across the Golden Gate bridge to the Marin Headlands and Sausalito. In the Marin Headlands, Mansi, Sahana and I hiked to the beach and visisted the famous (ok, not really) Point Bonita lighthouse. After an active day, we unwinded in Sausalito with the companionship of cappuccinos and bread pudding (I was looking for frozen yogurt but could only find ice cream in Sausalito. Don't worry, I'm writing a note to the mayor).

After a fun-filled, action pack weekend, Mansi left us to return back to the magnificent state of 15 degree weather, snow and ice...

Tahoe Ski Trip Weekend

We went to Tahoe for the weekend in early Feb with a group of 10 friends and had a blast. This was Tej's second time on a board, and he made significant progress. He was starting to make some turns! Go Tej! As for me, I am very slowly mastering the art of snowboarding. I've now gone about a dozen times, but I still am not very good. All my life, I've been a natural at picking up sports, so this has been hard, but I like the challenge. :) I can always go back to skiing which I am pretty good at, but I figure while I'm young and can take the pain (I still fall a lot), I will continue to try. Plus, I think boarding is more fun!

Half the fun of a weekend in the snow is making the roadtrip and sharing a condo with friends. There is always a special bond formed after a ski trip. After a full day of snowboarding, we scarfed down pizza and had some drinks in our cozy Tahoe cabin. We brought together a mix of friends who got along smashingly. Can't wait for our next group trip!
